Think again!

With these simple tips, you too, can be on the way to creating beautifully designed garden areas in no time at all.

All good garden plans have a few things in common.

Beginner Basics To Keep in Mind:
  • start small; keep the total area under 50sq ft (ex: 5ft x 10ft)

  • be aware of the light (sun/shade) available in your garden

  • use low maintenance reliable gardening plants
  • identify plants that will grow in your hardiness zone and use plants that work for you; see the gardening article: It Died...So, Now What?"

  • to provide eye appeal, play with using size in your garden;use a combination of tall, short, wide, and/or narrow plants.

  • play with color in the garden, trying different color combinations to discover which ones are pleasing to your eyes

  • there are a few of these other basics of design elements that you may find helpful also

Along with these beginner basics, there is yet one other item of importance when planning your beautiful garden areas:

Sketch It Out

Grab some paper and a pencil. Nothing fancy ... but do make a sketch of where you think you'd like to place your flowers and plants in your gardening area. This will give you a general idea of what the area will look like. Use colored pencils or crayons to help you visualize the color scheme also if you'd like.

You'll soon be on your way to creating beautiful designs for your garden areas.

Tip:
As you work with designing your garden areas and grow in confidence of your abilities, remember this garden saying to help you beautifully combine the flowers and plants you use:

"Put a roundy by a frilly by a spiky ... and add a floppy."

~ ENJOY ~
