Trellises, Arbors and Pergolas
Some of the beautiful structures you could add to your garden are trellises, arbors and pergolas. Any one of them can help provide vertical interest in your garden all year long. So, how do these structures differ from one another then?
Trellises are frames or structures of latticework generally used as support for vines or climbing plants; they might also be an arch or gazebo or even a complete summerhouse comprised of latticework.
Arbors are usually referred to as shady resting places in parks or gardens; arbors often include wooden structures and/or latticework upon which vines or climbing plants are grown.
Pergolas are typically a structure or arbor made of columns spaced at regular intervals that support a roof of trellisworkover which climbing plants or vines are grown.
If you're the "hands-on" type and would like to build your own garden accessories, the Free Pergola Plans
